John T. Lyon Family Data Updated

Today I've been working to update our information on the family of John T. Lyon of Carter County, Tennessee. His son James Ed Lyons' obituary in the Elizabethton Star was very informative. Jim's death date was 9 Feb 1936 and he was buried two days later in the Lyons Cemetery in Carter County just north of Elizabethton.

I also found the findagrave.com page for Samuel Columbus Lyon helpful. Sam was a farmer living near Bluff City, Sullivan County, Tennessee. He was born 23 Jun 1861 and died 24 Mar 1948 at his home in Bluff City. He also was buried in the Lyons Cemetery. Stay tuned for more updates on the Lyons family.

Maggie Richards and Melvin Pate marriage license discovered

I was able to find a marriage license for Melvin Pate and Margaret Richards in the Greenfield, Indiana newspaper published on 12 August 1937. So far I'm unable to locate the actual date or location of their marriage.

Margaret Richards' Second Marriage Discovered

Margaret E. "Maggie" Richards, born 5 April 1907 in Carter County, Tennessee, was first married to William "Willie" Lyons in Carter County. Their marriage ended in divorce in 1928. Maggie then appears in the Virginia Marriages 1785-1940 index on familysearch.org marrying Campbell Hayden in Petersburg, Virginia on 13 October 1930. I have no idea when, how, or why she was in Petersburg.

Maggie later married Melvin C. Pate and they lived for many years in Indianapolis, Indiana. I have not been able to locate a record of their marriage.
